Seventeen riders turned up at Dickley Lane on a dry sunny morning for the D rides. Six elected to go on the D ride lead by John B leaving 10 to be led by Russell to Seasalter. Having met the challenge of the A20 and turning right into Lenham Square we met up with Bridget and Richard B who had travelled in by train. A gentle climb up Hubbards Hill then a fast run down to Eastling and Painters Forstal. Through Faversham then on to Seasalter for our café stop. Meeting up with the B+ riders who arrived shortly afterwards having ridden in from Chestnut Street, a great gathering. A quick photo shoot and leaving without seeing the sea to return back along the way we had come to Faversham. This time going south of the A2 past Brogdale Farm Shop to skirt Painters Forstal missing the climb. Deviating from the intended route along the length of Stalisfield Road by going right along Throwley Road to re-join the planned route again after Haywards Hill. The puncture of the day befell Bridget, all fixed with Brian’s skills although not within Formula 1 pit stop timings. After Stalisfield Green down Hart Hill to cross the A20 to Charing Heath, Lenham Heath and back to Lenham Square turning right before Sandway avoiding the usually mucky Old Ham Lane. Bridget and Richard B having left us at the station the original 11 met the A20 challenge to return to our start.
38 miles at an average of 12.7 mph with 2090 feet of climbing.
