A really good turn out of 19,set off from Staplehurst,on a well planned away day trip, organised and led by Brian Kavanagh, and headed off to the Oasis cafe near Brenzett. Keeping in 3 very well disciplined groups,Brian journied out ,sometimes on main, but usually country lanes, skirting Frittenden to the three Chimneys, before going past Biddenden vineyards to St Michaels and Tenterden. Then onto the Appledore Road into that village for a comfort break.Mike G,whilst stopping, came a cropper, and unfortunately fell onto Jo's front wheel, buckling it a bit,but she was able to carry on ok.Brian steered the group to the stop on the A259.Chris Moon discovered that he had a puncture and mended it while he waited for his food. The skies were looking really dark, and just after setting off again, the rain hammered down, and the temperature dropped like a stone, and when shelter could be found the group took refuge.Funnily enough,a couple of miles further on,the road was completely dry.Brian looped a route back via Warehorn, where a second puncture held up the riders, then undaunted set off again past High Halden into Biddenden.Approaching Frittenden, the third puncture,so some of the group carried on .Thinking that it third time unlucky, until just before the finish, the puncture demon struck again, but Andy, the puncture czar leaped forward once again, and belatedly all made it to the finish.A distance of 48.5 miles for most, but Russell and Richard Byatt, wanted to do a 50 + ,so they did a final extended loop. An average speed of about 12.5 mph.

Thankyou Brian for a great ride
